Yeah, I totally get what you mean about needing a break. The trail we took last weekend was exactly what I needed. About three miles in, there's this clearing with a view of the whole valley. We stopped there for about an hour just to sit and take it in. The weather was perfect too - not too hot, just a light breeze. I brought some sandwiches and we ate while watching some hawks circle overhead. I need to do that more often, honestly. It's so easy to get caught up in day-to-day stuff and forget to just be outside for a while. Let me know if you want the directions to the trailhead. It's not too hard to get to, and the path is well marked once you're there. I'd be happy to go again if you're free next weekend. We could even try the longer loop if we leave early enough. There's a creek about halfway that's great for cooling off your feet.

I finally tried making that pasta dish you told me about. It came out better than I expected. I used cherry tomatoes from the farmer's market and fresh basil from my little herb pot on the windowsill. The sauce was lighter than the ones I usually make, which was a nice change. I think the key was letting the garlic toast slowly in the olive oil before adding anything else. The whole kitchen smelled amazing for hours. Next time I might add a bit more lemon zest to brighten it up even more. You should come over sometime and we can cook together. I'd love to hear if I'm missing any tricks for getting the texture just right. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation. I've been trying to explore more weeknight recipes that don't take forever but still feel special. This one definitely fits the bill.
