we finally got around to planting the tomatoes and peppers this weekend just like you suggested. the soil temperature has been hovering around 65 degrees so it felt like the right time. we went with a mix of heirloom varieties including brandywine and san marzano for the tomatoes and a few poblano and sweet bell peppers. i built some simple trellises using bamboo stakes and twine which should give them enough support as they grow. the raised beds you helped us set up last spring are draining really well this year and we added a layer of compost that seems to be doing wonders for the soil structure. we also put in some basil and marigolds around the edges as companion plants. the marigolds are supposed to help with pest control and the basil will be great for cooking. next on the list is getting the cucumber trellis set up and maybe trying some bush beans along the back border. thanks again for all the advice on soil preparation it made a huge difference.

we also decided to try a few cherry tomato varieties in hanging baskets on the patio and they are already starting to flower. the consistent watering schedule has been key and the drip system you mentioned has saved us so much time. the peppers are a bit slower to take off but they have good color and sturdy stems so i am confident they will produce well by mid summer. we might add a second round of planting in late july for a fall harvest depending on how things go.

we finally finished painting the living room and it completely transformed the space. we went with that warm gray tone you recommended and it makes the room feel so much larger and brighter than the old beige color we had before. the prep work took longer than expected because we had to patch several small holes and sand down some rough spots on the walls but the end result was worth the effort. we used a matte finish which hides the imperfections nicely and gives it a more modern look. we also replaced the old curtain rods with some brushed nickel ones that match the light fixtures. the whole project took about two weekends from start to finish including the trim work. we still need to touch up a few spots where the tape pulled off some paint but that should be quick to fix.

we also decided to paint the ceiling a bright white which really opened up the room and made the gray walls pop even more. the lighting in there is so much better now and we have already had a few friends comment on how cozy yet spacious it feels. next we are thinking about updating the baseboards and maybe adding a fresh coat of paint to the front door to tie everything together. let me know if you want to borrow the paint sprayer we used for the larger sections it made the job go much faster than using rollers and brushes for every wall.
