Hey! I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me last month. It took a few tries to get the hydration right but I think I've got it now. The first loaf came out a little dense but the second one had a really nice crumb and that tangy flavor you mentioned. I fed the starter this morning and it doubled in size in about four hours which seems like a good sign. We should swap notes on baking schedules because I work from home three days a week and I'm trying to figure out a rhythm that doesn't take over my whole kitchen counter. Also your tip about using a kitchen scale instead of measuring cups was a game changer for consistency. Let me know when you want to do a bake swap!

Oh and I finally watched that documentary you recommended last night. Really fascinating stuff. I had no idea about the history behind those festivals. The cinematography was stunning too. I might watch it again with my partner this weekend since they missed the first half. Do you know if there's a sequel in the works or any follow-up material? I saw a mention in the credits about a companion book but I couldn't find it at my local library. Might order it online if you think it's worth the read.

I ended up taking a different route home yesterday and found this little bookstore that I'd never noticed before. It's tucked between a laundromat and a coffee shop and the owner was super friendly. They had a whole shelf dedicated to local authors and I picked up a collection of short stories set in the region. I've already read the first three and the writing style reminds me a bit of that author you used to recommend back in college. I might go back this weekend to browse their poetry section. They also have a small reading nook in the back with vintage chairs and a lamp that looks like it came from an old library. I could easily spend a whole afternoon there.

Speaking of weekends I finally cleaned out my garage last Saturday and found my old hiking boots. They're still in decent shape so I'm thinking about doing that trail we talked about near the reservoir. If the weather holds up next month maybe we could plan a Saturday morning hike and grab lunch somewhere afterwards. Let me know if that sounds good to you. I know you've been busy with work lately but a break in the woods might be exactly what we both need.
