Hey, just got back from the hiking trip up in the White Mountains. The weather was surprisingly cooperative for this time of year. Only rained once on the first day, but the second day was absolutely gorgeous. We took the Franconia Ridge trail. My friend Mark thought he knew a shortcut and we ended up backtracking like three miles. It was funny in retrospect but at the time I was pretty tired and just wanted to get to the hut. The views from the top were worth every second of the detour though. We also saw a family of moose on the way down, which was incredible. Highly recommend going if you get a chance. Let me know what you think of the photos I posted. I tried to capture the fall colors but they just look so much better in person.

So I finally tried making that lasagna recipe you sent me last month. It was a lot more work than I expected. I spent like two hours just prepping the sauce and the bechamel. My kitchen looked like a bomb went off in a flour factory. But honestly, the end result was pretty incredible. The layers came out perfectly and the cheese on top got that nice golden crust. I added a bit of nutmeg to the bechamel like you suggested, and it really made a difference. I paired it with a simple side salad and it was the perfect meal for a cold evening. Next time I might try adding some Italian sausage to the meat sauce. Thanks again for sharing the recipe. Let me try that dessert one you mentioned!
