Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary is inviting you to an open house for a day of ocean, science, and corals. Featuring marine scientists, underwater technology, lionfish demonstrations, hands-on activities, and more, this FREE event is open to the public.

Habitat Monitoring Station
How do we monitor coral reef habitat in Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary over 100 miles offshore and 60 feet underwater? You'll be able to try it for yourself as you meet marine scientists that collect data used to evaluate the health of the sanctuary.

Lionfish Dissection Station
Invasive lionfish are removed from Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary and analyzed to better understand their impact on the reef. You will see dissections and data collection for science happening in real time!

Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Station
If you like to play video games, this is the station for you! Drive the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary's ROV in a small pool to complete a mission, just like our research team does. No swimsuits needed!
