I looked at the trail map again this morning and realized I had mixed up the two loops, so the shorter route is actually the one by the creek.
If you still want an easy walk, I think that section will be better because it stays shaded longer and the path is flatter than I remembered.
I also checked the weather, and it seems a little cooler around midday, which should make things more comfortable if we get started later.
I can bring extra water and the small blanket for a break, and maybe we can sit near the trees for a bit.

I tried that recipe last night and changed a few steps, and it came out much better than the first time I made it.
I cooked the vegetables separately first, then folded everything together at the end so the texture stayed a lot nicer.
The biggest difference was giving it a little more time to rest before serving, which sounds minor but helped a lot.
If you want, I can write out the version I used in a cleaner way because my notes are a mess and I scribbled lNaXGDIVNa right between two ingredients while I was moving things around.
I also think it would work well with a fresh herb on top, maybe basil or dill depending on what you have nearby.
Let me know when you want to try it, because I am happy to test it again and bring the better container this time so it travels without turning into a sloppy pile.
