History doesn’t need an audience. Sometimes you’re just lucky enough to be there.
On Saturday, that meant a doubleheader at Brown University.
In the ninth inning of the first game against Cornell, Olivia Pichardo took the mound and needed just two pitches to induce a groundout, becoming the first woman to pitch in a Division I baseball game.
It was senior day, with her mom in the stands cheering her on — and her newest fan, my 2-year-old son, Jack.
Speaking of Brown baseball, can you name the former Bears' pitcher who threw the first perfect game in Major League history?
(Answer at the bottom.)
