| NFL Draft Day 1 recap: Patriots trade up to land Utah OT Caleb Lomu |
Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft provided no shortage of New England Patriots news. Less than an hour before Round 1 kicked off in Pittsburgh, head coach Mike Vrabel addressed reporters in an impromptu press conference to address his decision to spend time with his family on Saturday (Day 3 of the draft) in light of recent photos that emerged of him and NFL reporter Dianna Russini at a resort in Arizona. Once the draft began, the Patriots saw the Philadelphia Eagles add another wide receiver — making an A.J. Brown trade seem even more likely — before trading with the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills to move up three spots at the end of Round 1 (from 31 to 28) and draft offensive tackle Caleb Lomu. |

April showers: Tracking rain chances over the weekend, more next week |
The sea breeze reminded us who’s boss Thursday. After basking in warmth all afternoon, we dropped from 65 to 52 degrees in an hour. What’s even more astonishing was that the wind was gusting from the northwest (land breeze) at 30, then abruptly switched to the east and gusted over 20mph. Typically, a northwest wind like that will hold back any attempts for the sea breeze to get any kind of foothold. There’s a lesson in all this, of course. Our pattern will be dominated by the wind off 46-degree water in the coming days. We’ll struggle to hang onto the 50s during the afternoon along the coast, while attempting to hold onto some slight warmth inland. There’s another forecast challenge too. A weak weather system will attempt to bring showers late Saturday into Sunday. At this point, high pressure should be enough to ward it off. This doesn’t mean the weekend will stay bright blue, however. Some clouds will move in Saturday, then we’ll peel them back on Sunday. Both days will feature highs in the 50s, however by Sunday, we could hit 60 through Metrowest and Northern Mass/Southern NH. |

| ‘Economic Armageddon': Bourne Bridge replacement funding in question |
| |
Leaders on Cape Cod are sounding the alarm about funding to replace the Bourne Bridge. For Blue Rock Golf Course in Yarmouth, a warmup in the weather signals the beginning of the busy season. The Par 3 course has been operating since the 1960s, and like so many other businesses, it depends on tourist traffic crossing the Cape Cod Canal via the Bourne Bridge and the Sagamore Bridge. “Everything you’re looking at, touching, buying, came over those bridges,” said Matt Pitta with Blue Rock Golf Course. |
