My presentation from last week’s North American Blender conference finally went live. I demonstrate how you can block-in a scene with Blender then use that to “render” a prototype with open-source AI, then “freeze” assets into real models that are reimported back into Blender. It turns AI from being just a slot machine into something you can actually control. One day Blender will get native AI rendering, which looks even more promising.

I’m honestly surprised at how well this works. It’s an FPS shooter that runs on top of a gaussian splat of a real environment (video demo), and it’s so lightweight it runs in your browser. As I wrote on X, tech like this + vibe coding + generated meshes = an explosion of indie games in our near future. Mostly slop, but there will be some gems. Can’t wait to see what novel ideas devs come up with.
