Volunteers Needed for Sanctuary Open House

Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary is opening its office doors to the public and we need your help! 

We are looking for volunteers for our Get Into Your Sanctuary Day event on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Volunteers are needed to greet visitors at the gates and assist staff members with various activities that showcase the wide variety of work that happens at the sanctuary.

Volunteers will assist with the setup/takedown of pop-up tents, tables, and chairs at the beginning/end of their shift. Volunteers should be comfortable with talking to event attendees and have some familiarity with the sanctuary. Some volunteer stations are outside, near or under shade. There are two volunteer shifts of three hours each, and volunteers may work both shifts, if desired.

Volunteer shifts: 

9 a.m.–12 p.m.  12 volunteers needed

11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. 12 volunteers needed
