Royal Caribbean expands its revolutionary Icon Class with the debut of the highly anticipated Legend of the Seas this July, following the introductions of Star of the Seas last year and Icon of the Seas in 2024. Each of these innovative vessels has six unique water slides (such as Pressure Drop, the first open free-fall slide at sea) and seven swimming pools, including a suspended infinity pool and the largest swim-up bar on a ship. Other highlights are Crown's Edge -- an aerial ropes course 154 feet above the ocean -- and more than 40 restaurants, lounges and bars. There are many types of staterooms and most cabins can accommodate three or four guests, making these ships well-suited for families traveling with kids.

Another addition to the Icon Class, Hero of the Seas, will launch in August 2027. This next-generation vessel will boast nine pools, including a new Caribbean-inspired area and three adults-only retreats. Hero of the Seas also features a funnel raft slide and new twists on a mat-racing water slide. Guests can savor gourmet cuisine at unique dining venues such as Orleans Parish Supper Club, a multi-course restaurant serving Cajun and Creole dishes, and The Royal Railway, which offers an immersive culinary experience by train car. Accommodations include a first-of-its-kind, three-deck Ultimate Family Treehouse suite with a rooftop terrace, private whirlpool, teen hideout and space for up to 12 guests.

Icon Class ships offer a range of itineraries. Hero of the Seas will offer three- to 9-night cruises from Miami to the Bahamas, Caribbean and Mexico. Legend of the Seas will sail three- to 14-night itineraries in the Bahamas, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and Mexico from a variety of ports such as Fort Lauderdale, Barcelona and Rome. Star of the Seas offers seven-night sailings from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Mexico. Icon of the Seas operates seven-night Caribbean and Mexico cruises from Miami and will begin sailing from Galveston in August 2027 to these regions.

Many of the line's Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries include a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, a private island that boasts the region's largest freshwater pool, a 1,600-foot-long zipline course, nine dining venues and a floating bar.

Thrill Waterpark at CocoCay has 14 waterslides, including Daredevil's Peak, the tallest waterslide in the Caribbean. The Up, Up and Away helium balloon ride lifts guests 450 feet in the air for amazing views (it's tethered to land by a cable). Beach chairs and umbrellas await on stretches of pristine sand, and kayaks and snorkeling gear are available for rent. Overwater cabanas accommodate up to eight people and include a two-person hammock, a minibar and your own slide into the sea. An adults-only area called Hideaway Beach offers a swim-up bar, live music and a private beach.

The upfront rate of any Royal Caribbean cruise includes your stateroom, meals and many amenities and activities. Multiple dining options are available on board, including Windjammer, which offers a wide variety of dishes in a casual setting. Try tacos and mole at El Loco Fresh, grab a slice of pizza at Sorrento's or craft the perfect hot dog at Dog House.

Entertainment ranges from exhilarating ice-skating shows and Broadway hits like "Back to the Future" to the divers and acrobats of the AquaTheater on Oasis- and Icon-class ships. There are also supervised kids programs, teen-friendly spaces, spas, fitness centers and no-kids solariums. All ships feature Voom, Royal Caribbean's Internet service that allows guests to stream movies and music, keep up with email and more.
