"High Sampling Rate + Large Storage Depth" Oscilloscope Practical Applications Sharing

Oscilloscopes featuring "high sampling rate + large memory depth" enable you to observe low-frequency signals while accurately capturing the fine details of high-frequency pulses.

Through actual testing to verify:

Set Channel 1 of the signal generator to a 50Hz sine wave, and Channel 2 to a 10MHz, 16ns narrow pulse signal. Connect both channel signals to the oscilloscope via a BNC T-connector for a comparative test:

Conventional Memory Depth Mode:

Reducing the time base allows clear acquisition of the high-frequency narrow pulse, but fails to capture a complete cycle of the low-frequency sine wave.

Increasing the time base displays the full sine wave, yet the sampling rate automatically decreases, causing the high-frequency pulse signal to be lost—no details remain even after local zooming.

Large Memory Depth Mode:

Observes a complete cycle of the 50 Hz sine wave while accurately capturing the details of the 10MHz, 16ns narrow pulse signal, without sacrificing the sampling rate. Signal integrity is maintained even under a wide time base window.

When the oscilloscope’s large memory depth mode is enabled, it not only fully records low-frequency signals but also clearly presents key parameters of the pulse—such as rising edge, falling edge, and pulse width—after local magnification. This truly achieves large time base observation of low-frequency signals + high sampling rate restoration of high-frequency pulses!
