Hello Camelot Families,
As many of our field trips will be taking place in the next few weeks, we want to say a huge thank you to the PTA and to families for all of the fundraising efforts, especially through the Fun Run and PTA Restaurant Nights, to make field trips affordable for all Camelot kids. These field trips help all kids access many of the sites around the DMV--and the charter bus rides in grades 3-6 are adventures in and of themselves!
The next time you are at Camelot you may notice the many outside cameras that have been installed around the building to give views of the entire school grounds. We were on the FCPS list for this security enhancement and are pleased to now have the cameras in place. They will be operational in the next few weeks.
We look forward to seeing families at school at the end of the month for our Donuts with Grownups events (see below). In the meantime, reach out if you have any questions.
One more thing--We want to share that Mr. Van, our beloved building supervisor, will be leaving Camelot at the end of the month. He is moving to part-time work with transportation. If you or your child would like to send him a note, teachers will be happy to get them to him.

Our next Early Release Wednesday is March 18. On this day, the school day ends at 12:50pm for K-6 students. (PreK has a regular Wednesday schedule.) Most students will depart school or go to SACC at 12:50pm on this day, but we do offer supervision to families who need it until 3:50pm. Buses are available at both 12:50pm and 3:50pm. We will use the Early Release plan that you selected for your child last month. If you would like to confirm or change your child’s plan, please use this form or call the school office (703) 645-7000. The remaining 3-hour early release dates are April 22, and May 13.
This year’s twist on Donuts with Grownups includes math games. The dates are Tuesday, March 24 for Grades K, 2, 4, 6, and Wednesday, March 25 for Grades 1, 3 and 5. Both events are 8:45-9:30am. Grab a donut and enjoy some math games in your child’s classroom. Feel free to split your time between classrooms if you have more than one child on the same date. If you have children in grades on both dates, but you can’t attend both, you are welcome to have the one child join you in the other child’s classroom.
In late April we will have a second Donuts with Grownups morning event focusing on students sharing writing. The dates are
On Tuesday, April 14, Camelot ES invites all military-connected families, active, reserves or retired, to join us for a family breakfast. This event will be held from 8:30-9:00am in the Camelot library.
Virginia will celebrate Purple Up! Day on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Purple Up! Day is a special day for communities to come together and wear purple as a visible gesture of support for our military-connected youth and their families. Purple symbolizes the combined colors of all branches of the military.
FCPS Military Family Field Day will be held April 18. This fun-filled day celebrates all FCPS military-connected children and families. Military Family Field Day will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m. at Annandale High School’s football stadium (4700 Medford Dr, Annandale, VA 22003).
Yearbooks are on sale for $13, and will be distributed in June. An ordering form went home 2 weeks ago (and more are available in the office). You can use the form or your own labeled envelope to send cash or check (payable to Camelot ES) back to school, or you can order online at barksdalephoto.com. Yearbook orders are due on April 24. We will have a few extra yearbooks in June, but cannot order additional copies once they sell out.
FCPS is administering a Family Engagement Survey, which will be open from Monday, March 9, to Monday, March 23. Your feedback is critical in helping us to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs in our schools.
Survey topics include: welcoming environment, communication, student success, advocacy, family and school partnerships, community partnerships.
The survey will be available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
Parents/caregivers will receive a survey link via email from FCPS on March 9. A survey link will also be posted on FCPS’ website. Paper surveys will be available at each school. Please stay tuned for more information.
Connecting with community members across our school division is critical to FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Her Community Conversations are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on:
