Stormwater Utility Fee Rate Proposed

In February, Arlington County Manager Mark Schwartz proposed the Calendar Year (CY) 2026 Stormwater Utility rate at $268 per ERU. The County Board will adopt both the Stormwater Utility rate and County budget next month. CY 2026 first installment bills will be sent in May, with payment due June 15, 2026. The Stormwater Utility rate is based on a cost recovery model, so it is dependent upon the adopted budget each year.

Arlington is considering the adoption of an impervious area limit in lower density, residentially zoned areas. Despite Arlington’s existing lot coverage and stormwater management regulations, impervious area is increasing Countywide, especially in residential areas. Impervious area increases the risk of flooding and extreme heat, which are the two most dangerous weather threats facing Arlington today. Limiting impervious area can improve stormwater management and create more space for trees.

Spring Celebration and Plant Sale

Glencarlyn Library Garden (300 S. Kensington St.)

April 18 | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Get ready for Earth Day and Arbor Day at the annual Spring Celebration and Plant Sale at the Glencarlyn Library Community Garden. An abundance of nature-related activities and products will be available. Small Trees Make Big Canopies will be giving away saplings during the event and there will paper crafts and other kids’ activities. Stock up on native plants from Hill House Nursery and plants propagated from the Library Garden.

This is a free event.

Native Plant Sale on Saturday, April 25, 2026

Spring is the perfect time for planting. Arlington County is offering a great selection of plants, shrubs and trees during the upcoming Native Plant Sale. This sale is pre-order only, so place your order before all plants have been sold.
