Charles Gramigna

Charles Gramigna age 91, of Vernon Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 24, 1935, in Oaklyn, New Jersey, to Joseph and Jane Gramigna, Charles lived a life defined by devotion—to his country, his faith, and most especially, his family. Charles proudly served his nation as a member of the United States Army, carrying with him throughout his life the values of duty, honor, and perseverance. His strength of character and steady presence were evident to all who knew him. A former member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Charles' faith was an important foundation in his life. He believed in the quiet power of kindness, humility, and service to others—principles he demonstrated daily. Charles had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything. Whether it was a household repair, a small engine, or a project that others had given up on, he approached every task with patience and determination. He found joy in working with his hands, and his family often relied on his steady expertise and willingness to help. He treasured time spent with his loved ones, especially the cherished spring break trips that brought the family together year after year. Those trips were filled with laughter, stories, and memories that will be carried forward for generations. An avid fisherman, Charles found particular happiness casting his line in the waters of Texas. Fishing was more than a pastime—it was his place of peace, reflection, and quiet contentment. Whether the catch was plentiful or modest, he valued the experience and the time shared with family and friends. Above all, Charles will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His steady guidance, gentle humor, and unwavering love created a foundation of strength and security for his family. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories he helped create, and the love he so generously gave

Cora H. Johnson

Cora H. Johnson

Visitation for Cora H. Johnson, 83, will be Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 3-8 p.m. at Michaels Funeral Home, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at Holy Archangels Parish, St. Hubert Campus, 729 Grand Canyon St., Hoffman Estates. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Cora was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Chicago, to the late Raymond and Dorothea Chylewski, and passed away Feb. 19, 2026, in Elk Grove Village. She was the loving wife of Robert for 63 years; beloved mother of Bob (Adrian), Doug (Cyndi), and Craig (Amy); sister of Shirley (David) Grandt, Raymond Chylewski, and Michael (Diana) Chylewski; and grandmother of Shawn, Doug, Raymond, Danielle, Caitlin (Leo), Dane, Cole, Alexis, and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her brother, John. Cora grew up in Schiller Park and Itasca, IL. She graduated from Lake Park High School and began to work as a secretary. She met her husband Bob when a mutual friend set them up on a blind date, and they were married a year later. After briefly living in Bensenville, Bob and Cora moved to Hoffman Estates, where they raised their three sons. They joined St. Hubert Parish, of which they were parishioners for 62 years. Cora volunteered there teaching CCD and later counting money. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, before returning to work. She and Bob moved to Schaumburg, where they have lived for over thirty years. After retiring, she became a full-time grandma, hosting countless parties and sleepovers, babysitting, and baking for her grandchildren. Cora will forever be remembered for her abundantly warm, generous, patient, and accepting spirit. She made anyone invited to her home feel instantly like family. Her love language was undoubtedly baked goods and sweets, which she made and brought to nearly every social occasion. She played softball and volleyball in her younger years, and when she wasn't spending time with family, she loved to play cards with friends, sew, crochet, and cross-stitch. Her and her family's homes are decorated with her beautiful artwork. For more information, please call 847-891-2900 or visit www.michaelsfh.com.
