What happened to Canada? America's neighbors to the north have historically proven to be a formidable force at the Winter Olympics. That's not happening in Italy, and Canada's dearth of gold thus far is hardly the most-talked-about saga involving the country. By now you've heard of the curling controversy. There were F-bombs. There were accusations of cheating. It happened in the men's tournament. Then it happened in the women's. We're accustomed to controversy at the Olympics. But in curling? There's plenty more of that sport going on today (the U.S. women are taking on China right now. China gets Canada later.) Speaking of controversy, figure skating is back! Two American pairs, including a duo that helped the U.S. win team gold, take the ice for the short program portion. Before that, two U.S. pairs look to take medals in the skeleton mixed team event. It's the newest Olympic event, so it's guaranteed to be something never seen before. And later this afternoon, the U.S. men's hockey team takes on Germany. This, after allowing a stunning 95-foot goal that may become the stuff of hockey lore. Facepalm. |
