Back in November 2024, I was pulling my hair out over my digital business. Now, fair warning. The results of this story are so good, they look fake. So let’s agree on this: I’ll tell you the details. I’ll show you the screenshots. Then you can decide whether I’m a no-good, dirty rotten, BS-filled scaling bro. (Even though… Most people who decided that about me are beyond saving. So they go on Reddit and call me a skin-eater. Yes, that really happened) Ok where was I? (Bumpy start to this email, but hey.) In November 2024 I was trying like hell to fix my business. We were doing ok. But it felt like we’d been stuck on the same level forever: Somewhere between $40k-$60k per month. Oh wait. Ok. I can make this even better for you. In continuing with the ADHD theme of this email… I actually went and looked up each month of revenue from this business from 2023 to 2024. It went: $41K $79K $59K $52K $42K $39K $44K $28K $39K $75K $35K $67K 2024 $28K $54K $36K $45K $53K $80K $64K $66K $82K $74K And in case you’re not counting. This is where the story started. November 2024 when I was pulling out my hair. “WHY, Tim?? Your business was GROWING!” Right. You’d think that. And we were rolling right in to a Black Friday season where I was hoping to really make it rain. But instead. I made only $43K all November. And then… During Christmas sales season? I made only $52K all December. Here’s November and December combined. Brutal. I almost made more in September alone than I did November and December combined. Tough stuff. Not because I was suddenly without food. (Investments were doing well as were my other income streams.) But… There was clearly a fundamental flaw in my business. So. I went back to the drawing board with my business partner Todd. We spent the whole holiday season doing 2 things:
I’m happy to say we cracked it. And this is where the “so good they look fake” statistics come in. In November → December of 2024, I made $96,407. In January → February of 2025, I made… Well, this much: Right Between January & February of 2025, this business made: $285,029 Right. Triple the revenue. Did I start selling more stuff? Did I suddenly get a bigger audience? Did I jack my prices to the moon? No, no, and no. The fundamental flaw lay in HOW we were selling, not WHAT we were selling. What did we learn there?
