Hi Jalskffl,

I've had lots and lots of people reaching out this past year asking if I offer one on one lessons through Zoom.

The answer: I don't.

I did them for several years and I was genuinely excited about the idea of being able to teach guitar to anyone, anywhere in the world.

However, the limitations of Zoom lessons were quickly made apparent to me.

For almost all of these lessons, it would go something like this:

First 10-15 minutes- figure out sound issues on the students end. Depending on the device they were using (phone, iPad, laptop or desktop computer) I may or may not be able to hear their guitar coming through Zoom. (about 60% of the time I couldn't)

Next 20 minutes- try and get to know the student and audit where they are at as a player and what they need help with

Last 20 minutes- try and show them something that is valuable enough to justify the price they spent on the lesson.

I'd get off of the lesson feeling absolutely drained

Worse than that, I didn't feel like my students were getting their money's worth!

So.........I stopped doing them.

Here is why I don't like one off one on one Zoom lessons.

1. Sound Issues- as indicated above

2. No way to actually jam together.

3. Visual issues- I may or may not be able to clearly see the students picking and fretting hands

4. Too short- one hour simply isn't enough time to really audit where someone is at and give the kind of feedback they need.

That being said: I LOVE teaching people. It really is one of the great joys of my life.

But doing it through Zoom just doesn't work for me.

So..........I've decided to change things up.

That's why I'm exited to announce my "Flatpicking Skills VIP Day"
