Hey! You get a new piece of material. Maybe it's that walnut you grabbed at the lumber yard. Or some acrylic scraps from a friend. Or leather for a custom order you already said yes to. You have no clue where to start. So you Google it. "Walnut laser settings 40W CO2." And you get:
Thirty minutes later, you're still guessing. I got tired of it. So I started pulling settings into one place. Manufacturer specs. Community libraries. LightBurn files people have shared. Anything I could find that was actually useful. 13,000+ settings. 60+ sources. One search. You tell it your laser type and wattage. It shows you what's out there for that material. Not perfect for your exact setup—but a starting point that's way better than guessing blind. I launched Laser Lab earlier this week. It's a free set of tools for laser owners: → Settings Library — All those scattered settings, in one place. → Business Calculator — Figure out what to actually charge for projects. The feedback so far has been great. People are finding settings for machines I wasn't sure anyone used. (Shoutout to the Sculpfun and Atomstack crowd.)
I'm also building paid tools: → Image Lab — Your screen lies about what your laser will burn. Image Lab doesn't. See the actual dots before you waste the material. → NestLab — Tetris for your laser, but the computer plays. Pack shapes so tight they share cut lines. Both are in early beta. Rough around the edges, but I'm shipping features weekly. If you want early access to help shape what these become. Click on one of those tools inside Laser Lab for more info. The free tools stay free. —Brandon P.S. I added 2,000 settings this week. If your machine wasn't covered before, it might be now. |
