Dear Mother Jones Reader,

I’m Jamilah King, an editorial director at Mother Jones, and as we approach the one-year mark of President Donald Trump’s return to the White House, I’d like to invite you to join our online discussion on Tuesday, January 20, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. We’ll examine some of the major changes Trump implemented over the last year and analyze what may happen politically in the coming year, particularly in light of the midterm elections in November.

I’ll be moderating the conversation with three of my colleagues: reporter Isabela Dias, who covers immigration and deportations; senior reporter Anna Merlan, who covers disinformation and extremism; and national correspondent Tim Murphy, who will be writing extensively about the elections this year. You can register for the discussion here.

We’ll also look at how Trump and his administration are often doing the bidding of corporations and billionaires—such as removing Venezuela’s president on behalf of the oil industry and relaxing regulations on cryptocurrency. And with the midterm elections coming in the fall, we’ll discuss which issues are likely to dominate the campaign, and the key races to watch that could determine who controls Congress.

To join us on Tuesday, January 20, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, you’ll need to register here (which will then email you the Zoom link). I hope that you can join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking event, and thanks as always for your support of Mother Jones’ reporting.

Onward,

Jamilah King
