After pledging to make unsolved homicide cases a top priority, Cmdr. Mélanie Dupont, head of the Montreal police major crimes division, assembled a cold-case unit in April.
Five months later, Dupont announced the murder of Catherine Daviau had been solved. The 26-year-old had been killed in her apartment on Dec. 11, 2008, in the Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie borough.
