Happy Holidays from By the People!

We hope you and yours enjoy a warm, healthy, and peaceful holiday season. Our team is grateful for all of our volunteers and supporters who have made incredible contributions to Library of Congress collections throughout 2025. We look forward to another year of new transcription projects, programming, and other exciting ventures.

January Volunteer Office Hours

Join us on Thursday, January 29 from 3-4pm EDT for our next virtual volunteer office hours! Community Managers will share updates about the program and preview upcoming campaigns. But most of our time during office hours is reserved for you to ask questions about transcription, talk to other volunteers, and share what you've learned. Everyone is welcome - from the transcription-curious to long-timers! Register to receive a Teams link for the call

LOCal needs your help! We’re looking for memories in By The People collections

Our colleagues have launched LOCal, an initiative with the Eastern Oklahoma Library System and Cleveland Public Library to connect digital Library of Congress collections to their local communities. And they need your help to identify By The People collections that contain rich personal memories.

Have you encountered surprising, moving, or otherwise remarkable memories in journals, letters, or other documents you’ve transcribed? Let us know! Memories found in Library of Congress collections will play a major role in the Eastern Oklahoma Library System project.

All the best,

Abby, Carlyn, and Lauren
