Hello Christmas breakfast lovers!
When we aren't traveling for the holidays, we make the same Christmas breakfast I've been eating since I was probably 5 or 6 years old.
Simply put, it wouldn't be Christmas without our traditional breakfast menu on the Christmas china my mom gave us many moons ago.
Here's what we have every year:
- This ham and cheese casserole that's assembled the day before so the creamy egg mixture soaks into the bread, then bake it after Santa arrives.
- While the casserole bakes, we open presents with a Bloody Mary in hand. They always remind me of my dad. Or, I also like a splash of homemade Baileys in my coffee.
- To cut through the richness of the ham and cheese casserole, this frozen jello salad is the best frosty combo of sweet and tangy. I think it's my husband's favorite part of the meal.
- When I was little, it was my sister and my job to make the Duncan Hines blueberry muffins while it was still pitch dark outside, as we waited for my mom and dad to wake up so we could open presents. These days, I make Gwyneth's homemade blueberry muffin recipe that is SO much better than boxed. Tip: Get the extra big blueberries if you can find them!
