The new version 2512 of Simcenter E-Machine Design has been released.

Bugs & Fixes in the Release:

More Accurate Results

  • Fixed RMS current calculation and time-averaged motion charts to ensure correct analysis results.
  • Corrected total loss calculation by removing AC loss double-counting.
  • Fixed demagnetisation prediction so it correctly reports a binary (0/1) result.
  • Resolved several locale-dependent conversion issues affecting numerical accuracy.

Improved Motion and Post-Processing

  • Corrected air gap sampling parameters and chart axis handling in motion analysis.
  • Improved consistency in thermal heat flux results when selecting components.
  • Added support for NoiseApp when generating B-field data for Force Harmonics results (SM).

Better Reliability in Automation and Scripting

  • Fixed blank charts when reports are generated via scripting.
  • Ensured suppressed modal dialogues no longer interrupt scripted workflows.
  • Improved error reporting when exports fail, so missing components are clearly identified.

Enhanced Support for Hairpin Windings (SM)

  • Added native hairpin winding modelling.
  • Improved hairpin winding layout visualisation and data entry using tables.
  • Ensured winding layouts update correctly when changing the number of parallel paths.
  • Enabled import and export of hairpin winding patterns using text or CSV files.

Improved IM Modelling and Exports

  • Fixed incorrect speed data in UNV exports.
  • Corrected rotor bar alignment in skewed squirrel-cage rotors with end ring overhang.
  • Improved 3D IM exports so air gap and air enclosure correctly account for end ring geometry.

Stronger SCDX Export Quality

  • Improved SCDX exports for all motor types (linear skew support planned for a future release).
  • Enabled SCDX export directly from the Results section.
  • Added proper electrical insulation handling between step-skewed magnets in 3D exports.
  • Clarified warnings related to idealised stator and rotor end windings.

Smoother Upgrades and Startup

  • Fixed upgrade issues that could cause outdated or missing material data.
  • Prevented unintended changes to winding definitions during model upgrades.
  • Ensured license and error dialogues are always visible during application startup.

Usability and GUI Improvements

  • Added an option to keep curve data labels visible when analysing charts.
  • Improved file dialogues to remember the last used folder and filter.
  • Clarified parameter names, tool names, and descriptions for easier interpretation.

How Simcenter 3D boosts efficiency in simulation disciplines

The more disciplines a product touches, the harder it is to keep workflows efficient. A shared platform for all simulation disciplines helps remove handoffs, reduce rework, and shorten cycles. Simcenter 3D improves efficiency by standardising methods, templates, and data across teams. Engineers gain a consistent way to model complexity and compare design options without reinventing the process for every project.

Infologic Design - From Design to Production

Infologic Design have been providing electromagnetic design software since 1978 (when it was named Infolytica Ltd), but as well as providing the software (now part of Simcenter from Siemens), we also offer a full Consultancy Facility. This ranges from running analyses as specified by the customer, to full design optimization to create the best design to meet the requirements specified by the customer, for devices ranging from electric motors to large scale transformers.

In addition, we can manufacture physical prototype electric motors, and working with one of our partners can even provide manufacturing facilities.
