Hey Marek, 2025 has been a year of real impact! Across continents, ONE supporters and activists showed up and spoke out. Here’s a snapshot of what we achieved around the world...

United States – Taking the case for aid straight to Congress 111 ONE advocates from 41 states gathered in Washington, DC for our annual Power Summit in late March. With the shared mission to tell Congress that foreign assistance is a smart investment, volunteers held over 150 meetings with Members of Congress, pushing to protect life-saving programs like Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Global Fund. Advocates did not take no for an answer, stopping Members of Congress in the halls, on elevators and the sidewalk to tell them how it is essential to protect and prioritize the bipartisan programs the administration was working to cut. Canada – Bringing global issues to the streets during the G7 Around the G7 Summit, ONE Global Activists and partners led a high-energy public activation in downtown Calgary. By engaging citizens and media directly, they amplified our messages on Africa as a trading partner, access to electricity, and the cost of capital, demonstrating what strong, aligned partnerships can achieve. Check out the recap video! Africa – Youth voices shaping global decisions Throughout 2025, ONE Champions across 12 African countries drove high-impact advocacy from the cost of capital to health and climate financing. They secured 24 decision-maker engagements, influenced the Africa Climate Summit outcomes, championed Africa’s priorities at the African Union Summit, the AU-EU Summit, and the AfDB Annual Meeting, and helped place cost of capital reform firmly on the G20 agenda, while building momentum for the African Development Fund replenishment. Champions ensured Africa’s voice, especially its youth, influenced leaders, shifted narratives, and strengthened the movement for equitable development financing. European Union – Defending smart investments together This year, thousands of ONE supporters across Europe mobilized to protect EU investments in global health, education, and climate action. Through the Architects for a Stronger Europe campaign, over 9,000 people signed our petition calling for a budget that invests in people, planet, and partnership. In October, more than 100 youth activists from Europe and Africa brought this call directly to policymakers in the European Parliament. Germany – Making ODA success stories impossible to ignore As Germany welcomed a new administration in spring 2025, ONE activists focused on raising awareness among incoming decision makers. Supporters organized eye-catching PR stunts across the country and held sustained conversations with policymakers, keeping official development assistance firmly on the agenda. France – Protecting solidarity funding through parliamentary action Through persistent advocacy and close collaboration with parliamentary allies, the National Assembly adopted key amendments preserving the link between solidarity taxes and ODA. Targeted meetings, lobbying, and a strong media campaign helped build a cross-party majority, securing vital funding for global health and international solidarity. Italy – Building cross-party pressure for global health This year, our activists placed global health financing at the heart of their advocacy efforts, mobilizing through persuasive advocacy actions, both online and offline, to successfully push global health higher on the political agenda. As a result, MPs from across the political spectrum submitted parliamentary questions urging the Italian government to step up and deliver on its commitments to global health. We joined forces with faith leaders in key moments of action to further amplify our message. Strategic alliances and persistent advocacy can drive meaningful political pressure and real change. Netherlands – Pairing youth leadership with hard evidence Through compelling videos and targeted advocacy days, youth ambassadors helped secure political support and pledges for Gavi and the Global Fund. Against a shifting political backdrop, the ONE Vote campaign was deployed around the elections to push for recoupling ODA to GNI and stronger development cooperation. A high-impact study on the return on investment of ODA also reinforced the economic case with MPs, ministers, and private sector leaders, showing that evidence, youth leadership, and smart advocacy can move the political needle and build momentum for stronger Dutch engagement in global health and development. United Kingdom – Turning public pressure into political wins Twenty years after Mandela told us in Trafalgar Square that “we can be great,” we lit up Nelson’s Column and let his words ring out again. Days later, the UK government announced a 40% cut to the aid budget. Supporters responded with actions, vigils, and a giant projection onto Parliament that was impossible to ignore. Thousands contacted their MPs, and our ambassadors secured 62 meetings with MPs and Ministers, helping protect support for Gavi, the Global Fund, and GPEI and secure new UK pledges, keeping progress against AIDS, TB, and malaria on track. And that's your ONE 2025 Wrapped! Every action you took and every message you shared added up to real-world impact: policies protected, funding secured, and voices heard. Thank you, Marek, for being part of the year that proved, once again, that collective action works. As we look ahead, we want to hear from you: Which global challenges matter most to you in 2026? Take one minute to tell us through our survey. Your answer helps shape the campaigns we run, the politicians we push, and the impact of our work worldwide.
With all our best wishes, The ONE team |
