McFarlane expands with buy of P. Ponk STCs for Cessnas
McFarlane Aviation has acquired a collection of supplemental type certificates from P. Ponk Aviation, substantially expanding its product offerings for legacy Cessna aircraft. This acquisition follows the death of P. Ponk's co-founder, Steven Knopp, and includes STCs for upgrades such as landing gear improvements and hinge bearing fixes. The deal strengthens McFarlane's ability to provide in-house parts and services for classic Cessna models.

Boulder, Colo., FAA remain at odds over airport obligations
Boulder, Colo., will not appeal the dismissal of its lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration regarding the future of Boulder City Municipal Airport, which remains unresolved. The lawsuit challenged the FAA's claim that Boulder must keep the airport open in perpetuity because it accepted some federal grants. The city maintains its obligation lasts only until 2040 and has stopped pursuing federal grants to avoid resetting the 20-year obligation.

Kan.'s K-State Salina pilots qualify for national event
The Kansas State University Salina Flight Team has qualified for the National Intercollegiate Flying Association SAFECON competition after finishing third in the NIFA Region VI-VII event. The team, comprising 14 students, demonstrated exceptional aviation skills, with Isaac Smith winning the Top Pilot award and Mary Barbour excelling in the Aviation Maintenance Test."We had an internal goal as a team to improve from our fourth-place finish in regionals from last year, so to finish third and be so close to the top two teams was very exciting," said team captain Michael Einwich.
