There are two things I love most about our year-end campaigns. First, they give us a chance to reflect on everything the Dallas Observer accomplished throughout the year. Second, they bring us closer to readers like you, people who remind us why this work matters.
There’s a lot to celebrate in 2025. Here are just a few highlights: |

Book bans and crackdowns on campus speech were frequent topics we covered this year, culminating in a bright spot: Our Best of Dallas issue celebrated bookstores, publishers and others keep free speech flowing.
- Our Members-Only Supper Club kicked off this year and was an immediate hit, allowing us to share fine food and drink with loyal supporters at Radici, Ramble Room and Ayahuasca Cantina. We look forward to meeting you all in the future.
- The growth of AI search has made 2025 challenging in finding new ways to reach readers, but we’ve seen a growing number coming to us in recent months, partly thanks to newly designed, reader-friendly newsletters.

And our community noticed. As one reader recently shared, he supports the Observer for “Several reasons. Music and restaurant reviews. Local stories that aren’t covered by other media outlets. To have a voice of reason.”
At the Dallas Observer, we’re built for moments like these — when clarity, connection, and accountability matter most. For example, when SNAP recipients wonder how they’ll feed themselves, when cannabis growers and businesses see threats to their livelihoods or the Legislature shuts down in a fight over gerrymandering, we’re here to offer news with context.
