FCC Reveals Filing Deadlines With Databases Returning

CPB and NPR Reach Settlement, Signaling End to Dispute
Late yesterday, NPR dismissed its allegations that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting withheld funds appropriated by Congress and also acknowledged CPB's separate grant agreement with the newly formed Public Media Infrastructure. In exchange, CPB agreed to disburse approximately $35 million in federal funds to NPR over five years to support the existing Public Radio Satellite System. Cape Cod FM Pirate Agrees to FCC Settlement
The Enforcement Bureau is back in action and it announced a consent decree with unlicensed radio operator Robert Bellinger. In April 2024, Bellinger was found to be operating 93.1 FM "Three Bays Radio" in Cotuit, Mass., and he will make a voluntary contribution of $7,200 payable to the U.S. Department of Treasury.

Spain’s RNE to Shut Down AM Transmitters
After 88 years, Spain’s Radio Nacional de España is airing an on-air announcement stating that it will stop broadcasting its RNE and Radio 5 networks on its approximately 32 medium-wave AM radio frequencies. The country’s public broadcaster seeks to expand its digital radio DAB+ footprint.
