The Email Forward Trick
AVOID THEM!

Hey Niepodam,

A rep I trained did something I’d never seen before.

She forwarded an email… to a prospect.

Not a sequence. Not a template.

An actual forwarded email, with a one-line note above it.

“Saw this from your CRO, figured you might want eyes on it.”

Here’s the backstory:

We were targeting a mid-market SaaS org. Their CRO had posted on LinkedIn about missing revenue targets. In the comments, someone mentioned pipeline quality.

So the rep wrote a short cold email to the CRO, referencing the post. She never got a reply.

But then — she forwarded that same email to the VP of Sales.

Added one line at the top.
Got a meeting in under 10 minutes.

Why it worked:

  • It looked internal. Like the CRO had actually sent it.
  • It implied relevance. No long pitch. Just “This might matter to you.”
  • It used social proof, sideways. The CRO was the trigger. The VP was the action.

This is what I call the Forward Trick, and it works because it bypasses the “cold” feeling of a pitch.

It feels like intel, not outreach.
