Get Your Social Club Membership Today!

The 2025-2026 Social Club season is underway! Get your membership today so you don't miss out on unforgettable experiences with our Teen (12-17) and Adult (18+) Social Clubs. From Friendsgiving and seasonal dances to e-sports tournaments, adapted sports, and monthly socials, last year was packed with excitement.

 

Social Club membership is $60 for the season and gives members access to a monthly social on the first Friday of each month, featuring unique program offerings. Members can also register for special events held on the third Friday of each month. Please note that special events may have an additional registration fee; dates and times may vary depending on the activity.

 

Returning members from the 2024–2025 season can renew their membership by calling our registration office at 703-228-4747. New to the club? We’d love to have you! Please contact Alexis Shott at TRInfo@arlingtonva.us to schedule a new member intake before registering.

Fall classes have begun! Whether you’re looking to try something new or keep building your skills, there’s something for everyone this season. We've highlighted a few of our open adapted offerings below and you can register for any available fall offerings in the Fall Enjoy Arlington catalog.

Adapted Pre-Fin & Me (Ages 2½ - 4)

Join our beginner swim class at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. This class is designed for participants and their parent or guardian. Participants will learn water safety, basic swim skills like floating and kicking, and get comfortable with instructors. Perfect for preparing them for future swim classes on their own.

Adapted Teen/Adult Splash (Ages 13+)

Tuesday/Thursday, November 4 - November 25, 9-9:55am

Dive into confidence with Teen/Adult Splash at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center! This adapted swim class offers a modified environment with a low participant-to-instructor ratio. Teens and adults will build water confidence while learning essential safety skills and foundational techniques like floating, bubble blowing, kicking, and submerging. Perfect for swimmers who benefit from extra support and encouragement in the pool.

TR Family Night Out Returns this Fall

We are excited to host monthly recreation events for families that include a member(s) with a disability. Families will get the opportunity to enjoy a variety of recreation activities as well as connect with others. Check out what we have planned.

Adapted Ice Skating (Ages 3+)

Join us at Medstar Iceplex for an afternoon of ice skating designed for families who have a member with a disability. Whether you're stepping onto the ice for the first time or returning after a break, this is a great opportunity to spend time together and enjoy the season. 

 

What to Know Before You Go:

• All participating family members must be registered

• Helmets and personal safety gear are strongly encouraged (not provided at the event)

• Skate rentals must be reserved in advance—on-site purchases are not available.

 

Bundle up, bring your energy, and come share the rink with other families.

Tumble Together (Ages 3+)

Come out to the Barcroft Sports & Fitness Center for an afternoon of Adapted Gymnastics. Participants will experience gymnastics by moving through obstacle courses, jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the rings and bars, and exploring the foam pit. All family members who plan on attending must register.

We're Looking for Volunteers!

Come volunteer with us at our Adapted Ice Skate event on Sunday, December 21 from 11:00am-2pm at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex. This event is designed for individuals with disabilities, and we need your support to make it a success. 

 

We are looking for on-ice volunteer support for this evening of ice skating. Volunteers should be comfortable skating on the ice as your role will be to support novice or new to skating participants who may benefit from physical support as well as positive encouragement.

 

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and commit to the entirety of the event. Skates will be provided to volunteers during the event for those who do not own them. You will receive details regarding orientation and your assignments before the start of the event.

Inclusion Support

The Therapeutic Recreation Office is committed to supporting individuals with disabilities in recreation activities by:

 

  • Creating and sharing modification plans - If we don’t already have a Participant Modification Information on file, please complete and submit online here.
  • Conducting class and program observations upon request. 
  • Supporting instructors and parents/guardians on implementing inclusion supports, upon request.
  • Providing additional staff support when available, however this is not guaranteed.
