| Good morning, Chicago. Caleb Williams connected with rookie tight end Colston Loveland over the middle of the field in the waning seconds of Sunday’s game. It looked as if Loveland had enough yardage to get the Bears into field-goal range. But Loveland wasn’t done. Loveland bounced off a would-be tackler and took it to the house for a 58-yard touchdown with 17 seconds to play, and the Bears beat the Bengals 47-42 at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati. Meslar/Chicago Tribune) Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco had one last heave for the end zone that Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright intercepted. All of this came after the Bengals recovered an onside kick with less than two minutes remaining and drove down the field for what looked like the winning touchdown with 54 seconds to play. Flacco connected with wide receiver Andrei Iosivas, and the
Bears had blown a 14-point lead in the final minutes. The Bears offense took over with 50 seconds remaining. After a pair of incompletions, Williams picked up a first down with a scramble near midfield. That’s when he connected with Loveland for the winning score. The offense totaled 576 yards, including 283 rushing yards. Rookie running back Kyle Monangai ran for 176 yards on 26 carries. It marked the most yardage since Ben Johnson took over as coach and the first time the Bears totaled more than 500 yards since Oct. 9, 2016, against the Indianapolis Colts. In improving to 5-3 on the season, the Bears scored 40 points for the first time since an Oct. 5, 2023, win over the Washington Commanders.
