Dear Bailey’s Families,
We hope everyone is doing well and ready for the long weekend! Just a reminder that there will be no school for students on Monday, October 13 in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, while our staff participates in important professional learning throughout the day. Also, please note that there is a 3-hour early release for students on Wednesday, October 15.
Thank you to all of our families who have already confirmed dismissal plans for early release Wednesdays this year. Your partnership helps us ensure that all students are safe and cared for. If you have any changes to your dismissal plans, please contact our front office right away.
This past week, we enjoyed seeing families join their children for lunch on their assigned days — thank you for making those visits so special! If you haven’t yet, please check out your child’s teacher’s assigned lunch day on the schedule below in this newsletter.
Our teachers and specialists have also been hard at work during their Collaborative Learning Team (CLT) meetings this week. Specialists are focusing on ways to support multilingual learners through English language development strategies, while grade-level teams planned their upcoming math units. Kindergarten will begin their introduction to numeracy, first grade continues to work on addition and subtraction, and second grade will begin thinking flexibly with numbers up to 120.
Be sure to save the date for some exciting upcoming events — Picture Day on Friday, October 17, and our annual Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 30. We can already feel the excitement for the fun fall season ahead at Bailey’s!
Warmly,
Satonya Dews, Principal
Tracey Brown Rice, Assistant Principal
Keith Downing, Assistant Principal
Christie Fuller, Assistant Principal

We are proud to support our students’ health and well-being, even on days when school is not in session. We hope that many of our families will take advantage of this opportunity. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800.
October Family Lunch Visits
We are now over a month into the school year, and our students have practiced and learned their lunch routines and procedures. Beginning in October, we are excited to welcome families to join their child for lunch!
To help us accommodate everyone smoothly, we ask that families plan their visit on their child’s teacher-assigned day. Please see the schedule below.
