Filling the Void
Baker & Taylor’s library clients are scrambling for new distribution partners in light of its imminent shutdown, with Ingram, Bookazine, and Amazon jockeying to fill in for what had been the country’s largest library wholesaler. With New York Comic Con kicking off today, we put together the ultimate preview of North America’s largest pop culture event, from its new dedicated professional pavillion to the much-anticipated return of DC Comics. Fox Entertainment and HarperCollins’s YA-adult crossover imprint, Avon A, have announced a content-sharing deal, marking the first collaboration of its kind between the two Murdoch-owned companies. The 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature has gone to Hungarian author László Krasznahorkai, whose apocalyptic epics the Swedish Academy called “visionary.” Small-screen adaptations of Robert Ludlum’s The Ambler Warning and Stephanie Garber’s Alchemy of Secrets are in the works at Paramount and Universal, respectively, reports Deadline. New Yorker staff writer Kyle Chayka considers how AI could upend the labor market, and Parul Sehgal at the New York Times digs into the new Thomas Pynchon. Librarian Amanda Jones and authors Ocean Vuong and Ali Hazelwood have landed on Time magazine’s list of rising stars. And Judy Taylor, a giant of children’s publishing in the U.K., has died at 93.
