Oak View Review
News and Notes: October 3, 2025

Oak View families,

This week we recognized Yom Kippur, a time of reflection and renewal. To all who observed, we hope you found this a meaningful and peaceful time. In that same spirit of gratitude, we celebrated Blue Star Week, honoring the service and sacrifice of our military members and their families. Thank you to all who joined us for the Blue Star Breakfast. It was a privilege to come together in appreciation of those who serve our country. We are especially grateful to the parents and families who generously donated food to make this event possible.

Your Proud Principals,

Ms. Luerssen, Ms. Adams & Ms. Hanson

Walk and Roll to School Day

OVES will participate in Walk and Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 8. Students and employees are encouraged to bike or walk to school and work where safe to do so. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children to school, assemble bike trains or walking groups for the event.

Fall Cleanup Day Tomorrow, October 4!

Our Family Fall Cleanup Day is Saturday, October 4, from 9:00–12:00! Bring your family, friends, and neighbors, and join us as we roll up our sleeves to take care of our school grounds with projects like pulling weeds, raking leaves, and picking up trash.  Scouting groups and other organizations are welcome, and we’ll happily sign off on volunteer hours.

If you sign up on our Sign Up Genius we can let you know any weather-related updates on the morning of the cleanup. We'll work rain or shine, unless it's dangerous or particularly nasty weather, in which case I will send a cancellation through the sign up. If you have any questions, you can reach out to Oak View’s Get2Green Coordinator, Amy Riddick. We look forward to seeing you there and working together to make our school grounds shine!

Storybook Pumpkin Festival

All students are invited to celebrate great books by decorating pumpkins as storybook characters. Pumpkins will be displayed in the display case outside the library and on top of the library shelves from October 14-31. Pumpkins can be dropped off at the library on any day during that window. On October 31, students can pick up their pumpkins or ask their friendly librarian to make them disappear. Find out more information by visiting our Storybook Pumpkin website.

Library of Things

Our librarian, Mrs. Atkins, is starting a "Library of Things." She is currently looking for donations of Oak View drawstring bags and gently used, clean bake pans. Donations can be delivered to the library.
