Dear aaa,
As summer begins to fade, September feels like a new start for many. None more so than the beautiful tiger Tajmir, now resident and recovering in our FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary.
In the September edition of PawsNews, we are asking you to help us make our voices louder, through joining our campaigns against the dog and cat meat trade in Indonesia and asking the fashion brand Woolrich to go fur-free. As well as this we’re sharing some harmful trends in the puppy trade you might find useful when searching for your perfect pet. |

Tiger Tajmir gives us all hope
After living for over a decade in unsuitable private keeping, Tajmir made the long trip from Czechia to our FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary in the Netherlands.
After a smooth 9-hour journey — with several check-up stops along the way — Tajmir reached FELIDA in the evening. The big cat ambulance is even fitted with a surveillance system, allowing the team and the vet to monitor him closely throughout the trip.
The moment the crate door opened, Tajmir walked straight into his indoor enclosure — no hesitation, just curiosity. He explored, checked out his hammock, and even enjoyed a few goodnight bites of meat from the caretakers.
This kind of serene behaviour right after arrival is rare for rescued animals — and it says a lot about Tajmir’s character. We’re truly impressed!
Having recently passed all medical tests, he’s now in his outdoor home, complete with a pond, climbing structures, and plenty of room to play and just be a tiger.
We’ve shared a clip of Tajmir settling in on Facebook – follow us for more updates as he settles in. |

A moment of opportunity in Indonesia
Right now, tens of thousands of dogs and cats in Indonesia are being stolen, trafficked, and slaughtered for their meat every single month. Many are beloved family pets. This brutal trade inflicts unimaginable suffering and spreads deadly diseases like rabies.
With Indonesia’s new president in office, we have a crucial window of opportunity to demand change. Add your name to our global petition today and help us push for a presidential ban on the dog and cat meat trade - together, we can save countless lives. |

Dog ‘trends’ to avoid.
It’s a sad truth that many people are unaware that they may be causing suffering just when they want to be providing love – when choosing a new pet.
Ruthless sellers are advertising ‘cute’ and ‘special-looking’ puppies that come with lifelong health problems. Did you know that unusual fur colours are caused by a recessive genetic mutation which can promote deafness and blindness?
We’ve put together a list of harmful dog trends and how to spot them in ads on social media. Please share with anyone you know thinking of buying a puppy. |

Saying no to cruel fashion at Woolrich
As international Fashion Week season begins there are still companies dragging cruelty down the runway. This needs to stop.
This month, together with the Fur Free Alliance we’ve launched a global campaign urging huge outdoor fashion brand Woolrich to adopt a fur-free policy. Their so-called iconic Woolrich Arctic Parka – widely recognized as the brand’s signature winter piece – is a main contributor to animal suffering. Its fur-trimmed hood is made of pelts from raccoon dogs, coyotes and foxes, killed solely for decorative purposes.
You can help change this by letting them know this isn’t acceptable. |
Kind regards,
Natalie Hood
