Week 3: Downers Grove North wins a thriller, Maine South stymies Palatine

Starting at quarterback for the first time since his final season of youth ball in eighth grade, Kevin Jay found Illinois recruit Will Vala for a late 26-yard touchdown, leading Downers Grove North to a 9-7 victory over Hinsdale Central in the West Suburban Silver conference opener for both teams.

In other action, Maine South’s defense shut down Palatine, beating the Pirates 52-6.
