Urgences-santé has been ordered to pay more than $450,000 to the family of a deceased 18-year-old Innu man, The Gazette's Aaron Derfel reports.
A judge determined Nutin McFarland died from a severe peanut allergy in 2017 because paramedics waited too long on the scene to transport him to a nearby hospital.
But the judge disagreed with the assessment of Nutin's family, who argued paramedics discriminated against their son because he was visibly Indigenous.
