City Earns Triple Crown for Financial Reporting
The Government Finance Officers Association awarded Fairfax City the Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its FY 2024 report. This is the third award the city has earned from GFOA this year, bestowing the city with a “triple crown” in financial reporting.
The city has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 31 consecutive years and the Certificate in Financial Reporting for 44 consecutive years.
Mayor Catherine Read said, “With this award, GFOA recognizes the outstanding achievement by our local government to provide transparency to our community about our city’s finances. We are fortunate to have staff so committed to constant improvement on behalf of our residents.”

Meet Local Artists on Main Street, Sept. 7
Head to Old Town Fairfax from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 for a day of art, music, and community. Local artists will display and sell their work along Main Street between Chain Bridge Road and University Drive during the Art Walk on Main Street.The Art Walk on Main Street is proudly supported by the City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts.
The Beanstalk Library Acoustic will perform from noon to 5 p.m. during the Old Town Fairfax Business Association's Tiny Music Fest at 10409 Main St.

Car Free Day is Sept. 22, but Fairfax City encourages you to try an alternative to driving alone in your car at least once in September. Convenient options for "getting there differently" include our fare-free CUE Bus, Metrorail, Capital Bikeshare, e-scooters, carpooling, and walking. Sometimes getting there differently allows you to experience the city differently. Accept the challenge and have fun!
