Dear aaa,
Only a few months old. A playful puppy, full of zest for life. His tail wagged with every passerby, his ears pricked curiously.
Until he was bitten.
What started as an innocent bite while playing with another dog turned out to be the beginning of a nightmare. His breathing became heavier. His behaviour changed. Within days, he was paralysed. He died alone and far too young. |

A heartbreaking situation
Without continued intervention, rabies will once again spread rapidly in Bali.
The virus is extremely deadly, for both animals and humans. Once infected, there is no turning back. The disease attacks the nervous system. Animals become confused, aggressive, and bite out of fear or panic. This is how the virus spreads like wildfire.
Infections are increasing alarmingly in various places on the island. We must act NOW. |
No cure – but a life-saving vaccination
Every infection starts with a single unvaccinated dog. A simple vaccination can prevent this immense suffering. A vaccination protects a dog against rabies for years. It's safe. It works. And it only costs 20 euros per dog.
Together with our partner Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA), we are making a difference.
Our mobile vaccination teams have learned what works. Community engagement. Consistent coverage. Follow-up monitoring. When we achieve 70% vaccination coverage in an area, we create "herd immunity" - protecting not just individual dogs, but entire communities. Vaccinated dogs can't transmit rabies. They can't infect other animals. They can't pose risks to the children and families who share their neighbourhoods. Since our partnership began in 2019, we have already vaccinated over 8000 dogs in Bali.
But it's not enough.
Every unprotected animal remains vulnerable and poses a risk to others. With just a small donation, you could help defenceless puppies receive a life-saving vaccination. Dogs that won't have to suffer. Dogs that won't die from a disease that is so easily preventable.
Will you join our fight against this deadly virus, aaa? |
Warm regards,
Natalie Hood
