Important Save the Dates

Summer Reading Celebration and Gathering, Wednesday, Aug 6, 6-7 pm

Did your child participate in our summer reading program? Join us in our library on Wednesday, Aug 6 from 6-7 pm for a summer reading celebration. Your child should bring any activities they completed and be ready to share their thoughts and feelings about their summer reading book. We’ll serve up some pizza and there may be some additional SLES staff members there to celebrate and chat about our summer books. See you there.

Please complete this form to RSVP. It's okay if your child has not finished the book yet. Completed assignments are not necessary for participation in the celebration.

SLES Open House and Community Resource Fair, Thursday, Aug 14, 2-4 pm

Special Kindergarten Open House Early Access, 1-2 pm

This is a time to tour our school, visit classrooms and meet teachers. Our Open House is a “meet and greet” atmosphere, and we encourage our families to wander and discover.

Additionally, we will provide our families with school, local and county resources. Several local and county organizations will be on-site to engage with our families during our Open House.

For our kindergarten families, we encourage families to gather on the playground for our students and families to meet and interact with one another. This is a great opportunity for new families to connect.

Kindergarten families are not required to attend our Open House from 1-2 pm. We just like to offer quieter, early access for families that may be interested.

SLES Back to School Night, Tuesday, Aug 26, 6-7:30 pm

Join us for an informative evening and learn more about our school, your child’s grade level and their classroom. Teachers will provide formal presentations to our families.

Pre-K Program Accepting Applications

The FCPS PreK programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying children with economic and educational risk factors ages 3 and 4 years by September 30 who live in Fairfax County.

Applications are accepted online, by email, or by mail or in person at our office at 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

SLES School Supplies

We are continuing our use of communal school supplies. Rather than asking each child to bring in an exhaustive list of school supplies, we ask our families to commit to specific items to purchase and bring to school. These school supplies are used by all students at each grade level. Please access the sign-up genius to purchase supplies for our students.

25-26 Class Placements

We will communicate our class placements for this school year the week of August 11 prior to our scheduled open house.

Family Engagement Opportunities

Our PTA needs YOUR Support!

As I’m entering my 7th school year as principal at Stratford Landing, I often think about the impact our PTA has had on our school not only during my time as principal, but the many years prior. Our PTA serves a vital function for our school, our students, our families and our staff. For the PTA to be able to continue to impact our community positively, they need people.

People! People! People!

The impact of our PTA comes from the time, energy and effort of PTA members. Without volunteers, our PTA struggles to fulfill their mission and vision. I’m hopeful we have many family members that are able to commit some time to all the wonderful opportunities our PTA provides Stratford Landing.

Being a part of the PTA means you get a real say in shaping your child's educational experience. Whether it's funding classroom supplies, enrichment programs, or teacher appreciation, serving as a PTA board member, chair, or core volunteer means that your voice is heard. It's also your ticket to connect with fellow parents and caregivers who are just as invested in making Stratford Landing a great school and community. Plus, many hands make light work

Sign up, make an impact, and maybe even make a few new friends along the way. Please identify any role, in the link below, that you might be interested in. All of these roles can be (and have been) handled by people with full-time jobs!

For more details on the group’s structure and purpose, please visit the Superintendent’s Family Vision Group webpage.

Thank you for your continued partnership in this important work. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

A Final Good-Bye from Mr. Magee!

Spending the last 10 years at Stratford Landing Elementary School has been a dream come true for me.  I cannot thank you all enough for your constant support and encouragement. You welcomed me into your families and trusted me to always do best by your children over the years.  Making connections and building meaningful relationships with the school community, colleagues, administrators, and most importantly the students will be one of so many highlights for me.  I love this school community and look forward to following all of the great things to come at The Landing in the future.
