Special Delivery for the Military Rd. Roundabout

Military Road Utility Vault - July 2025

On Tuesday, July 15, a crane team delivered and installed a 52,000 pound vault into a trench at the site of the future roundabout on Military Road and Nelly Custis Drive.

This vault will house the conduits and powerlines that currently run above the intersection, and will replace the utility pole that stands in the work site.

Yellow Cones Mean Slow Down

For crew and community safety, proceed with care around the work site. Heed all signs, and respect the placement of barrels and cones that mark closed off areas.

Prep for: East Falls Church Bus Bay Construction

Projects to Watch - East Falls Church Bus Bays Project

This summer, crews will begin construction on the East Falls Church Metro Station Bus Bay Expansion project, which is expected to be completed in summer of 2026.

Watch the Project Overview Video

The project will:

  • Repave and reconfigure the bus loop on the north side of the station to expand capacity from the current four bus bays to seven, and install new bus shelters
  • Implement pedestrian improvements on sidewalks, the Park-and-Ride lot, accessible parking spots, and crosswalks between North Sycamore Street and the bus loop driveway.
  • Upgrade utilities and add a new signal at the intersection with North Sycamore Street

What to expect:

Work will begin on the north parking lot, and some spaces will close for equipment staging and initial work. There will be no impacts to bus travel during this stage, but buses will relocate during later phases of construction.
