Ensure your child is riding safely by having your car seat checked at the Fairfax County Courthouse Complex. Sheriff's deputies check more than 500 child safety seats every year and find that over 50% are improperly installed.

Own Your Space: Self-Defense for Confidence and Safety (10:30 - 11:30 a.m.)
Self-defense is more than just fighting — it's about owning your space and standing strong. In this series at Kings Park Library in Burke, teens will learn to spot red flags, use their voice and body to stay safe, and practice self-defense techniques.
Birds of Prey (1 - 2 p.m.)
Learn about powerful and majestic raptors, including hawks and owls at the Burke Centre Library. You'll also have the chance to see live birds up close and discover what makes these predators masters of the skies.
Summer Engineering Challenge (2 - 3 p.m.)
Use your critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities to engineer a solution for our secret seasonal challenge at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale. Attack the design problem and work within the criteria and constraints to see if you can come up with the best solution. Registration is $10.
Brunch Book Sampler (2 - 3:30 p.m.)
Join us for a fun afternoon of book tasting at the John Marshall Library in Alexandria. You will be guided through a "literary buffet" where you can dine and taste great reads. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Sheep to Shawl: Mending (2 - 5 p.m.)

Learn techniques like patching, darning, needle felting and embroidery. Bring an item in need of mending, and we'll figure out the best ways to fix it.
