- In July, spotted lanternflies morph into adults and lay 30 to 100 eggs per season. When adults feed on trees, they create a sticky black or white mess.
- Our urban foresters visit county-owned property to decrease messes and perform egg mass scrapping.
- If you see a spotted lanternfly nymph or adult, squish them to prevent future messes or reach out to pestmail@fairfaxcounty.gov.
