Prepare for a Night Out on the Town

Arlington groups interested in hosting National Night Out events are nearing an important deadline. Neighborhoods, businesses and organizations must register by July 25 to ensure police officer attendance.

• Last call. This round of public feedback about concept designs for the RiverHouse Public Open Space project ends on Sunday, July 20.
  
  
• Join a hybrid public meeting on July 28 to review a proposed site plan located at 1111 Army-Navy Drive, also known as RiverHouse Neighborhood.
  
  
• There will be a public hearing on July 25 to discuss different plans in the Arlington Housing Choice Voucher Program.
  
  
• The Arlington County Police Department will hold its Summer Quarterly Community Meetings on Aug. 7 and Aug. 12. The public is invited to discuss community issues, crime prevention, and other concerns.  

• The Arlington County Fair is just around the corner. This year, the free ART bus shuttle pickup will be at the Ballston Mall Parking Garage.
  
  
• The Arlington County Board will consider and act on several items at its Regular and Recessed Board Meetings including a proposed redevelopment plan for Ballston One.
  
  
• Arlington fire responders are inviting the public to come together for the 2025 9/11 Memorial 5K Race honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
  
  
• An important message for Arlington bike riders. Starting next month, several fees are increasing for Capital Bikeshare users.
  
  
• Look before you book. A reminder for teens that you must be 18 to rent most e-bikes and e-scooters. But there are other free options available for teens.

A Bonding Experience

Melanie and Drew Bond are Arlington's 2025 Foster Parents of the Year. The pair say they took in their first foster children twenty years ago. Today, the family has grown but the Bonds say they're still just like any other family.
