Reporters Go Gonzo Covering Billionaire Summer Camp While media moguls mingle in Sun Valley, members of the media are shut out. “What makes it so absurd is that they want the coverage,” Fox Business correspondent Charlie Gasparino tells Natalie Korach, who’s been reporting from this year’s billionaire summer camp. “All these rich people, they all run media companies, and they don’t want to talk to the media.”
Still, journalists are getting creative in scoping out, say, a Barry Diller bike ride or Ivanka Trump coffee run. “While the Sun Valley Lodge itself, where the moguls are housed for the summit, is under strict security with no one allowed in who isn’t an attendee or employee,” notes Korach, “the parking lot of the resort and other amenities, shops, and the post office on the property remain open to the public.”
Elsewhere, Bess Levin points out the many, many times that Donald Trump has complained about having not won a Nobel Peace Prize, an obsession that is surely fueled by Barack Obama taking one home. And amid the latest right-wing freak-out, this time over James Gunn’s Superman, Anthony Breznican reminds us that “for nearly 90 years,” the Man of Steel “been a symbol of decency and righteousness—and for just as long, that has caused backlash and pushback.”
