Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Big To-Do: Short Cuts, our midweek round-up of what’s going on around Boston, as selected by Boston Globe critics and writers.

Thursday

  • “Girls” creator Lena Dunham is back with her new series “Too Much,” debuting on Netflix.

  • Look, up in the sky! The new “Superman” movie flies into theaters this weekend.

  • Harbor Stage Company kicks off its run of the Arthur Miller masterpiece “Death of a Salesman” at the Harbor Stage in Wellfleet.

Friday

  • Comic Amy Tee and pals Laith Alsasah, Sadie Hale, James Scott Patterson, and Gary James perform at Beverly’s Off Cabot Comedy and Events.

  • Zombies lead singer Colin Blunstone stops by the Somerville Theatre for a Q&A along with a screening of the documentary “Hung Up on a Dream.”

  • He’s back. Michael C. Hall returns to his fan-favorite killer role in “Dexter: Resurrection,” premiering on Paramount+ with Showtime.

  • The Rockport Chamber Music Festival continues this weekend with a performance by Grammy Award-winning soprano Karen Slack.

Saturday

  • Film critic Gerald Peary curates a comedy show at the Somerville Theatre featuring performances by Dan Doherty, Ari Dhar, Jessy Wang, and more.

  • Laugh it up with 10 Boston comics, who are uniting to film new specials for Tubi with a pair of shows at Roxbury Community College Auditorium.




Sunday

  • Hot off his latest album, “Soul Burger,” Los Angeles MC Ab-Soul brings his tour to Brighton Music Hall.

  • Included with museum admission, check out the latest Summer Stages Dance performance at the ICA.

  • Kentucky-born comedian Ariel Elias yucks it up at The Comedy Studio in Cambridge.

  • Celebrate 40 years since one of history’s most famed concerts with the new documentary “Live Aid: When Rock ‘n’ Roll Took on the World,” debuting on CNN.

Ongoing

  • Presented by Gloucester Stage Company, Lindsay Joelle’s play “The Garbologists” continues its run through July 26.

Last Chance

  • “The New Art: American Photography, 1839-1910” ends its stay at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on July 20.
