Evening Parking Enforcement in Residential Areas

CITY OF FAIRFAX — In response to community feedback, the City of Fairfax Police Department has recently targeted evening parking enforcement for commercial vehicle violations in residential neighborhoods throughout the city.

Per City Code § 98-147, commercial vehicles are generally not permitted to park in residential zones regardless of the time of day, except under specific conditions:

Allowed:

• One commercial vehicle under 9,000 pounds may be parked off-street (e.g., in a driveway) per residence.
• Residents without off-street parking may request a permit to park one qualified commercial vehicle on the street in front of their home. If approved, a city-issued permit must be displayed.

Not Allowed:

• Parking commercial vehicles on public residential streets without a permit.
• Parking commercial vehicles over 9,000 pounds in residential zones.
• Parking trailers or semitrailers on residential streets (except briefly for loading, unloading or repairs).
