Good afternoon families!!
It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is here! We have two more full days and a shortened day left in the 2024-2025 school year. We have class parties, programs, 6th grade party and promotion, and other fun grade level events scheduled for the last few days. Please remember to bring ID if you are visiting or participating in events here at the school!
6th Grade Promotion: Tuesday, June 10th, 9:30-11:15 am in the gymnasium. Doors will open at 9:05 and parents will enter directly into the gymnasium through the door to the left of Door #1. ID will NOT be required to participate in the promotion ceremony, but if you choose to stay and volunteer, you will need to check in with ID after the ceremony concludes.
CONGRATULATIONS to the class of 2025 High School graduates! We held our Senior Grad walk on Tuesday, at 1:00 pm, and had many of our former Cherry Run students in attendance. In addition to the LB graduates, we had several students who moved away and attend other high schools return and walk with us!! Please see the picture below!
Next week, we will have our lost and found items on tables in the front lobby for pick up. We have over 200 items, some very, very nice items, that are currently in our Lost & Found storage. These will be laid out on tables and you may peruse through the items on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 9:05-9:25 or from 4:05-4:30. Any items not claimed are donated to charity.
As I move into my final week with students here at Cherry Run, I am reminded how privileged I am to have been the principal of this amazing school, with such amazing students and staff, and such a wonderful community for the last 15 years. I truly look forward to these next three days with students, a few more days with my awesome staff, and then a week to support the transition to your amazing new leader.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mark Bibbee
Principal

June 10 - 6th Grade Promotion - 9:30 am in the Gym
June 11 - Last Day of School - 2hr Early Closing - 2:05 dismissal
From the Clinic:
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time @ 2:05 p.m. on the last day of school, 06/11/2025. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.
If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, Mylene Crisostomo, at 703- 923-2810 mcrisostomo@fcps.edu or your school public health nurse, Breshna Haider-Yousuf at bhaider@fcps.edu or 571- 363- 0789.
Thank you for your cooperation and have a good summer.
- Language Arts Summer Learning: Magazines, Weekly Plans, Activities, and More
We will be sending students home with two Benchmark magazines to help them practice their reading and writing skills during the summer. You will also receive a letter from our school with weekly learning plans and activities.
Find more ways to support your child's literacy skills on FCPS’ Summer Learning Resources webpage. All of these activities are optional, but we encourage families to help their students practice reading and writing during summer break, so that they can start strong next school year.
