How Ohio fails terminally ill patients: Here’s a word I hope you never have to care about: Medigap. To help cover out-of-pocket costs that are not covered by Medicare, Ohio requires private health insurance companies to offer supplemental policies, known as Medicare Supplement Insurance or Medigap policies, to senior citizens. However, Ohio does not require health insurers to offer Medigap policies to Medicare patients who are under 65. This leaves young patients with rare illnesses scrambling for health coverage. Good Guy Brandon update: Brandon Chrostowski, founder and CEO of EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute, will receive a 2025 James Beard Foundation Impact Award for his efforts in creating a more inclusive culinary environment, reports Maya Morita. Chrostowski is being honored for his leadership at the Cleveland-based nonprofit, which trains and employs formerly incarcerated individuals.
