Roadrunner Rundown

April 2, 2025

Principal's Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We hope you enjoyed the long weekend. Our staff had a very productive day yesterday and are excited about the final quarter. The school year is similar to a marathon as one must be aware of the terrain, adjust their pace and reset their focus when they start to become tired. We expect students and staff to run the marathon to the very last mile!

Last week we shared the process for making student homeroom placements for next school year. Your input is optional but if you have information to share about your child that will assist us, please complete this form no later than Friday, April 25. Please know that this is a hard deadline. Any requests received after this date will not be considered.

Have a great week!

Matthew Chapman, Toni Nauflett and Kelly Willis

School Events and Information

Attendance Matters

With Spring Break coming April 14-18, we are at our best with students here all three days this week and the five that follow after break. Let’s go 8 for 8.  Beyond Spring Break we have a mix of new and review instruction, state and county assessments, and fun activities.  We expect students to be present each day until June 11th.

Yearbook Sales

Yearbook sales have begun, and pre-orders will be accepted through April 28.  Online orders can be placed using this Yearbook Order Form. If you would prefer to pay $20.00 by cash or check, make checks payable to Marshall Road Elementary School, place cash or check in an envelope and write your child’s name, teacher name and YEARBOOK on the envelope. Each yearbook is packed with candid photos, memories of the 2024-2025 school year, staff photos and individual photos of each student by grade level. There will be a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase after all the prepaid orders are distributed during the last week of school.  Yearbook Flyer

Therapy Dog Visits Marshall Road

We are working with a community organization, Heeling House, to coordinate therapy dog visits on occasion to Marshall Road. You can learn more about the organization by visiting www.heelinghouse.org.

Though we will not be able to provide this at all grade levels, we will work to build a plan as we ascertain who is open or able to partake in this possibility.  Opt-Out Forms were sent home with students today. Please complete the form and return to your child's teacher if you do not give permission for your child to visit with a dog. Digital forms have been attached for you to print and complete if you did not receive one from your child. English  Spanish

Student Intention for the 2025-26 School Year

If you are moving over the summer and will not be returning to Marshall Road School next year (or the respective middle school for rising 7th graders), please contact the school registrar, Shelly Koshuta, at mmarcumkoshu@fcps.edu or call the office at 703-937-1500. Please complete the Student Intention Form and email it to Shelly Koshuta. Paper copies will be sent home in Tuesday Folders on March 25.

If you are moving over the summer but still living in the Marshall Road boundary, it is still important to contact the school registrar, so we can update the new address in the school computer system.
